Heirloom Hourglass - The Hope Chest
For hundreds of years, girls have filled
wooden chests with items of personal meaning to them in anticipation of one day getting married and taking this chest and
the special things within it to their new home. This simple wooden chest became a symbol of hope and love, and was a part
of lifelong dreams coming true. Often, the girl’s parents would help her fill the wooden chest over the years with linens,
keepsakes, photos, family heirlooms, and more. The young lady’s father may have even built the wooden chest for her.
In honor of this beautiful family tradition, Heirloom Hourglass offers “The Hope Chest” hourglass. Just as the
wooden hope chests passed down for many generations were made from or lined with cedar, “The Hope Chest” is crafted
with Eastern Aromatic Cedar wood for the hourglass bases. The finely finished maple hardwood rope shaped pillars match the
cedar wonderfully, and the two intertwining strands of the rope are the perfect symbol of the bond of your relationship. A
24-carat gold plated solid pewter heart adorns each side of “The Hope Chest” hourglass. These heart shaped closures
make opening and closing your hourglass from either side easy. Whether you’re getting married, celebrating an Anniversary,
or starting a new family tradition, you will create a beautiful heirloom when you fill “The Hope Chest” from Heirloom
Hourglass with sands or soils from your Wedding Day, your travels, your home, the first beach you went to together, or any
special place. Pass it on someday to your child for use in their Wedding, or for a special moment in their lives! A collection
kit is included.
