A favorite material of craftsman for fine furniture and artistic décor, solid cherry is timeless in its elegance and natural beauty. “The Cherry Tree” from Heirloom Hourglass combines traditional craftsmanship with rustic flair to create a unique and classic hourglass you can fill with your own real beach sands or soil from your home or camp. The bases are made using solid cherry that displays a very unique and rare grain pattern – known as “curly cherry”, the beautiful waves and dimensions of the grain capture the light wonderfully. We use mortise and tenon style joinery to combine these elegant bases with solid cherry pillars crafted from unpeeled cherry tree branches. A solid pewter pine cone closure adorns each side of the hourglass, so you can easily fill “The Cherry Tree” with your sands or soils. A collection kit is included with this and all Heirloom Hourglasses, and it contains an individually numbered book for recording the story of your hourglass, and the special meaning its contents has to you.
