Heirloom Hourglass - The Renaissance
Named for the European cultural movement that brought about great artistic and intellectual
achievements, “The Renaissance” from Heirloom Hourglass is inspired by this time period and what it represents.
Thus, Heirloom Hourglass strives to promote the evolution of the hourglass beyond a timepiece of great historical significance
to a time capsule through our modern artistic interpretation of the hourglass as a vessel for storing and displaying
sands and soils that are symbolic of a confluence of places, events, individuals, their families, and the important moments
of their lives. “The Renaissance” is handcrafted for you from solid marble bases and American black walnut rope
shaped pillars. Quarried in Spain, the marble used is called Crema Marfil, and it displays
beautiful shades of cream and beige with subtle white and gray veining. This premium natural material pairs wonderfully with
the black walnut, which is finished to a warm, luminescent glow. Open and close “The Renaissance” with the solid
pewter ship wheels found on each side of the hourglass. The ship wheel design simultaneously pays homage to the rich nautical
history of the hourglass as a timepiece while making the filling of it for use as a time capsule and keepsake possible. Fill
your hourglass with sands and soils from a time and place that hold a special meaning to you, and pass it down through the
generations as a cherished family heirloom. A collection kit is included.
