The Prairie from Heirloom Hourglass features environmentally friendly, reclaimed antique American Chestnut bases matched with yellow pine rope shaped pillars. These historic woods combine to create a classic hourglass bursting with character. Our antique chestnut is reclaimed from old barns, cabins, and buildings and it is over 100 years old. This very rare wood displays a wonderful amber hue streaked with copper highlights, and features rustic charm, nail holes from the structure it served, and a rich patina brought on from decades of aging. The sweeping golden grain of the yellow pine pillars enhances the glow of the chestnut it is paired with and The Prairie is completed with our solid pewter log cabin design closures on each side. We apply a hand-rubbed finish to showcase the warm glow of the hourglass, making it a wonderful heirloom quality piece to pass down to future generations. The Prairie, like all Heirloom Hourglasses in this collection, stands 9 and 5/8 inches in height and it is 5 and ½ inches around. A sand collection kit is included, and you can easily open and close your hourglass and fill it from either side with real beach sands or colored sands from some special place or event.
