Heirloom Hourglass - The Chestnut
This
very special Heirloom Hourglass is handcrafted from reclaimed antique American Chestnut bases and walnut rope shaped pillars.
Chestnut trees are extinct in the US, and the only source of this incredibly beautiful, classic American hardwood is through reclaimed lumber and
timbers from historic structures. Our antique chestnut is over 100 years old, and it is loaded with character that only decades
of time can create. A rustic golden brown patina, deep grain, and even nail holes remain to give a glimpse into the past of
this rare, reclaimed wood. The antique chestnut bases are matched perfectly with another American classic known as black
walnut. It is selected for use in the rope shaped pillars, and your hourglass receives a hand-rubbed finish to achieve
the look of the finest furniture. Pewter scrolls complete The Chestnut
and they simply twist on and off each side so you can fill your Heirloom Hourglass with sands from a lakeshore, ocean beach,
or any location around the world. The scrolls are intended to be engraved with your message, names, dates, and locations,
and this engraving service is available in our Personalization and Custom Closures Section. Like all Heirloom Hourglasses
in this collection, The Chestnut stands 9 and 5/8 inches in height and is 5 and ½ inches around. A sand collection
kit is included. This unique sand
ceremony hourglass is the perfect addition to a wedding unity sand ceremony, family unity ceremony, or vow renewal
ceremony. It is the perfect alternative to the unity candle for an outdoor wedding sand ceremony, destination beach wedding
sand ceremony, or an inside wedding where a candle cannot be lit. It also makes the perfect heartfelt gift for
any occasion.
